A big thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast at our first sickness absence management event in Halifax today.
Our director and founder, Dr Nicola Dann, gave a doctor-led insight into how Occupational Health can support business. Together with our guest speaker, Jenny Arrowsmith, Partner in Employment Law at Irwin Mitchell, they looked at various ‘myth busters’ to tackle common misconceptions around managing staff ill-health and what the law requires.
They joined forces at Southwood, in Halifax, to examine individual cases to give healthy tips on how to save money and keep better control of sickness absence.
Dr Dann said: “We looked specifically at absence management, the cost of ill-health and key employment issues. Within this, we examined the referral process for short and long-term absence, both from a medical and legal point of view.
“From understanding the reasons for absence, common adjustments that can be made and fitness to attend meetings, we were able to give professional opinion on how to move a situation forward.”
Some of the feedback from today’s session included: “Brilliant interactive session … Liked the open interactive communications … Really useful thanks.”
